Arrival by Car

Coming from Munich/Salzburg:
Take the A8 autobahn to Salzburg and then, at the autobahn interchange marked "Knoten Salzburg" follow signs towards Vienna/Linz for about 26 kilometers. Take the Thalgau exit off the autobahn. Continue in the direction of St. Gilgen am Wolfgangsee and then follow signs for St. Wolfgang. In St. Wolfgang, first make a right into the tunnel and then a left at the next intersection, following the shore of the lake until, on the right-hand side, you will see a sign indicating the car park for the SchafbergBahn.


Coming from Vienna/Linz:
Driving on the A1 towards Linz/St. Pölten/Pressbaum, take the Regau exit and continue to Gmunden. From Gmunden, carry on to Bad Ischl. Once you have reached Bad Ischl, follow the signs to St. Wolfgang. In St. Wolfgang, first make a right into the tunnel and then a left at the next intersection, following the shore of the lake until, on the right-hand side, you will see a sign indicating the car park for the SchafbergBahn.


Using Public Transportation

Coming from Munich/Salzburg:
Catch a train from Munich to Salzburg Main Station, then take the No. 150 bus to the bus station in Strobl. Change to the No. 546 bus and get off at the stop for “St. Wolfgang Schafbergbahnhof”. The No. 150 bus also stops in St. Gilgen, where you can board the Wolfgangsee ferries (“St. Gilgen Busbahnhof / Raiffeisenplatz”, then about 340 meters on foot).

Coming from Vienna/Linz:
By train to the station in Attnang-Puchheim. Continue on the “Regionalzug” train to Bad Ischl. Once you are in Bad Ischl, take the No. 546 bus to St. Wolfgang as far as the stop for “Schafbergbahnhof”.

With the “Hop on Hop off” Bus

You can take the “Hop on Hop off” bus marked "Green line - Lakes & Mountains" from Bad Reichenhall or Mirabellplatz in Salzburg to the bus station in St. Gilgen. Then continue by ship from St. Gilgen to the “St. Wolfgang Schafbergbahn” landing. Bus schedule at www.hoponhopoff.at
